email from mimi 18.07.2003, confirming that Borghild was a French professor at Macalester College, in St. Paul, Minnesota, atleast during 1963-67. obituary in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Mimi (mimi333_99@yahoo.com) writes:
I noticed that you do not have birth and death dates for Borghild K. Sundheim, my dear French professor at Macalester College, in St. Paul, Minnesota. I attended school there 1963-1967. I believe she retired the year I graduated and died a year or two later, as I remember unexpectedly reading her obituary in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. She was a wonderful teacher and I took intermediate French language and composition from her, as well as some more advanced courses, such as Romantic French Poetry. She was rather petite, had a cloud of white hair, and always wore blouses with some sort of elegant pin at the throat. Though she could be rather stern with those who hadn't done their homework, she was a very kind person. One of my last acts before graduating was to take a bouquet of spring flowers to her office to thank her for being my teacher. I still have the lovely note she wrote to me afterward. She recommended the book *Giants in the Earth*, by Ole Rolvaag, and I finally read it many years later. I believe she attended the University of Minnesota and I imagine the Macalester archives might have further information. So far as I know she did not marry. Good luck. | Sundheim Borghild Katharine (I1346)
