  Martin Carlsen (Carlson) came to Norway from Sweden in the 1890's. He originates from 'Dahls Edh' in 'Elfborgs Len'. He settled in 'Stokke', but later he moved to the 'long red home complex' on 'Reveodden' på Kaldnes in Tønsberg. Martin Carlsen had a wife (unknown?), which died while he worked as a ferry-man and lived on 'Reveodden', Kaldnes, Tønsberg. Later he married Pauline Østensen. He was granted norwegian citisenship in 1898, and he made a living as the 'ferryman' between Tønsberg and Kaldnes. Martin (K)arlsen, b.1859 is found in the census of 1900. He is then married with Pauline Andrine (K)arlsen, b.1861, and living with her children in 'Farmandsveien 316'(Husliste 11, krets 23) in Tønsberg.
