    • "Grandpa Short" LuVern B. Sundheim of Marysville, Washington died November 24, 2013 in Bethany at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Everett. LuVern B. Sundheim was born in Peever, South Dakota on May 19, 1924 to Edwin and Inga (Grinde) Sundheim. LuVern entered the U.S. Army on November 1, 1944 serving with the 84th Field Artillery in the European Theater in World War II until his honorable discharge on August 10, 1946. On May 10, 1952 he married the love of his life, Irene (Larson) Sundheim. In the first years of their marriage they made their home in Froid and Fairview, Montana. During this time, their two children, Jaycin and Jeraldine, (Jeri) were born. In 1960 the family moved to Lynnwood, WA. LuVern worked in construction for many years, including having worked on the Space Needle and several buildings for the World's Fair which was held in Seattle in 1962. He was proud to have worked on the Boeing air field runways, Pike Place Market and several hospitals in Seattle. After his retirement he worked with his son-in-law, Jim Short, building houses for several years. During LuVern and Irene's retirement, they enjoyed watching their grandchildren's sporting events in Washington and North Dakota. LuVern will always be remembered for his hard-working manner and his sense of humor. Irene passed away on November 11, 2008. LuVern is survived by his son, Jaycin (Mitzi) of Minot, ND and their children, Dr. Jayme (Blair) Mace, Zachary (Jill) Sundheim, Whitney Sundheim and Ethan Sundheim; his daughter, Jeri (Jim) Short of Marysville and their children, Jaime (Aaron) Tanner, Jeremy (Bethany) Short; Jacie (Nathanael) Radmacher and Joshua Short; as well as eight great grandchildren, Ayla, Bryson and Eli Short, Braeden and Kaleb Radmacher, Logan Mace and Cash and Brewer Sundheim. LuVern is also survived by his sister, Helen Martin; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m., Faith Fellowship Church, 14616 35th Ave SE, Mill Creek, Washington. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m., Zion Lutheran Church in Fairview, Montana. We would like to thank the nursing staff at Bethany at Silver Lake Nursing Home for the love they showed in caring for our dad. Also, to Providence Hospice of Everett for the excellent care for our dad and for the compassion they gave to our family. Our journey was made more comfortable because of your loving care.
